Setting up a Site in Dreamweaver
You first need to know how to define your site in Dreamwever. You need to set up a local site stored in a folder on your hard drive. Inside this folder you will set up a folder for your images and css files. When you are ready to publish your site, you will also work with a remote site where you will upload your site to your host server. Follow the instructions below to set up your site in Dreamweaver.
- Open Dreamweaver CS4
- Choose Site > New Site for the Site Definition and the Site Definition dialog box will appear
- Click on the Advanced Tab
- Choose the Local Info Category of the Site Definition Dialog box and fill in the following categories
- Site name: (name your site).
- Local root folder: Browse to the folder containing the files that you set up for your site
- Default images folder: This is the "images" folder that should reside inside your site folder
- Click the OK button and you should see your site files cache to your Local files area in the Files Panel
